Berlinale 2022 Competition Lineup and Opening Celebrations

The 72nd Berlin International Film Festival opened today. Guests gathered in the Berlinale Palast for the introduction to the International Jury ceremony. The event streamed live on the Berlinale website. M. Night Shyamalan is serving as president of this year’s International Jury at the 72nd Berlin International Film Festival. Joining the International Jury on the Red Carpet this year is the Encounters Jury, the GWFF Best First Feature Award Jury, the jury of the Berlinale Documentary Award as well as members of the International Short Film Jury.

The opening film for the 72nd Berlin International Film Festival is François Ozon’s Peter von Kant.

This year eighteen films will compete for the Golden and Silver Bears. Of these productions, fifteen countries are represented, seventeen of the films are world premieres and seven films were directed by women. The opening film for Berlinale 2022 is François Ozon’s Peter von Kant. The film stars Denis Ménochet, Isabelle Adjani, Khalil Gharbia, and Hanna Schygulla and it is currently in Competition for the Bear Award.
